Great War Death Plaque

Bronze plaques were issued to the families of the personnel who gave their lives during active services in the Great War. The plaques and an accompanying scroll were sent to the next of kin.



Death plaques are cast from bronze and include the name of person who had died in raised letters. They were issued to families of all branches of services. This includes women who were killed, these were fewer around 600, compared with nearly 1.4 million for male service personnel.
