From the Supplement to the London Gazette, 3 September 1918
8048 Sjt. G Warren, DCM, Hamps. R. (Tadley, nr Basingstoke).
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his company was ordered to return and hold the line, he dashed forward in the face of heavy machine gun fire and aircraft attack, and regained the position. Later, he returned to the position after it had been evacuated, to find some men who were sniping, and reached it under intense machine gun fire. Throughout he did splendid work.
